VANCOUVER – An Amber Alert has been issued by RCMP in both Alberta and B.C., as they search for two young sisters from Alberta believed to have been abducted by their mother.
12-year-old Talisha and six-year-old Taya Meisel went missing from their elementary school in Vulcan, Alberta on Monday.
RCMP confirm the mother was spotted Wednesday morning in Golden, B.C. Police believe the children may be at risk.
“There was information, evidence to suggest that there was concern for the safety of the children,” says Sgt. Rob Vermuelen of the RCMP. “That triggered our Amber Alert here this morning.”
RCMP wouldn’t say what evidence they have that the children could be in danger.

Talisha is described as having long blond wavy hair and was wearing a turquoise green sweater, a grey striped t-shirt and blue jeans.
Taya also has long blond wavy hair and was wearing prescription glasses.
Police believe the sisters might have snuck out of the school and met up with their biological mother.
An arrest warrant has been issued for their mother, 48-year-old Trina Meisel. She is described as blonde with blue eyes, 5’6″ tall, and 123 lbs.
It’s believed the children may be traveling with their mother in a 2007 Black Honda CR-V with Alberta plate ORNRSE.

An RCMP constable confirmed to Global News on Tuesday that the girls and their mother are in British Columbia. Officers believe they are heading to Vancouver Island – likely Nanaimo or Ladysmith.
Officers add they have seen some posts on social media confirming their whereabouts, and the eldest girl reportedly told a friend they were going to Vancouver Island.
If you see them or the vehicle, do not approach and call 9-1-1 immediately.
